What are the qualifications of your therapists?
All of our mental health professionals are active, licensed and regulated with their specific professional bodies. For example, our clinical psychologists are in good standing with the College of Psychologists of Ontario, our registered social workers are in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, and our registered psychotherapists are in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.
Other than my therapist, will anyone else know about the private things I say?
Everything you say is private and confidential. There are exceptions to confidentiality rights in extraordinary circumstances — for example, when disclosure is necessary to prevent serious, foreseeable, and imminent harm to the client or other identifiable person. Your therapist will go over these limitations and the consent form with you before beginning therapeutic treatment. Your consent is always voluntary.
How do I choose the right therapist for me?
When you reach out to Bhatia Psychology Group, we will set up a brief call to discuss your needs. Our intake coordinators will recommend a therapist that is a good match with your therapeutic goals, as well as your preferred location and schedule.
Will anyone know that I am seeing a therapist?
Your sessions are completely private, as noted within the limits of confidentiality discussed above. It is up to your discretion whether you would like to share any details with friends, colleagues or family members.
How do I know if therapy is working?
Your therapist will discuss what you hope to accomplish during treatment. For example, one of your objectives may be to learn to manage stress better, or replace destructive behaviours with healthier ones.
Remember that therapy is an individual process and each person moves at a pace that they are comfortable with. All of the practitioners at Bhatia Psychology Group are mindful and respectful of your therapeutic journey.
